Below is an example of what a typical day out with our artists is like but remember, this is your experience and therefore if you would like to do something a bit different or to adjust the schedule please do not hesitate to let us know. Each Azizi Life experience can be tailored to suit you and your interests.

Daily Schedule:

08.00 Briefing at Azizi Life office in Muhanga

08.10 Depart Azizi Life

08.30 Arrive at rural community. Welcome by artisans

08.35 Go to the family home of the artisan who is your host for the day

08.45 Seasonal activity e.g. hoeing, planting. The artisans will show you how to do the activity and will work alongside you. They will encourage you to take a rest whenever you need to, or to sit out and watch if you prefer.

11.00 Fetching water (You can choose to help with food preparation instead)

12.30 Lunch: this will be whatever the family would normally eat. The food will be cooked and vegetarian e.g. cassava and beans. This is a good time to ask your hosts questions about life in their community. They may have questions for you too about life in your home country.

13.30 Weaving: one-to-one tuition in weaving a simple item in sisal (Alternative afternoon activities are available if weaving doesn’t appeal to you)

15.30 Depart rural community

15.45 Arrive Azizi Life. Cold drink and a chance to debrief. We display handicrafts at Azizi Life, including

those made by the artisans you have visited, and these are for sale if you wish to buy a souvenir and

further support the artisan
