Hiking trails
Nyungwe offers 13 hiking trails, some with tongue-twisting names. Try pronouncing "Igishigishigi" quickly, which is the name of an easy 1.7 km trail that begins near the Uwinka Reception Centre. By the way, Igishigishigi means tree fern. The trails range from easy to difficult and from 1.7 km to 10.6 km in length.
Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda offers diverse hiking experiences, from the popular, easy Igishigishigi trail showcasing giant tree ferns to the moderate Kamiranzovu Marsh Trail leading to wetlands and waterfalls.
The forest is known for its rich biodiversity, including 13 primate species, making hikes excellent for wildlife viewing, birding (especially on the Karamba trail), and enjoying lush scenery. You can also experience the forest from above on the exhilarating Canopy Walkway, which provides unique views of the ancient ecosystem.
POPULAR TRAILS:
Igishigishigi Trail:
The most popular trail, ideal for nature walks and birding. It's a 2.1 km trail named for the giant tree ferns, offering views of treetops and wildflowers.
Kamiranzovu Marsh Trail:
A moderate 6 km trail leading to waterfalls, wetlands, and orchids, especially in the wet seasons (October-November and April-May).
Karamba Trail:
A 4 km trail, best known for birdwatching, offering an easy climbing experience.

Peak Season:
