Visit Chimpanzees in Nyungwe - Explore Lake Kivu - Experience Coffee Processing Tour - Bike Congo-Nile and Meet Gorillas in Volcanoes
Day 1: Nyungwe National Park
Meet your tour guide on your arrival at Kigali airport. If time allows, visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre. And after driving to Nyungwe national park for about 5hours, a stopover in Nyanza king palace and in Butare for the national museum visit and Lunch, after continuing to Nyungwe. Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking
Early morning, enter the forest for Chimpanzee trekking or hike to Izumo waterfall, and if time allows us, afternoon visit the tea company and drive to Esperance orphanage for overnight.
Day 3: Lake Kivu
After breakfast and touring Esperance eco-projects with Victor (the founder), drive to Kibuye, go for a boat tour, relaxing on both beautiful islands, Napoleon and Amahoro islands. After lunch, drive from Kibuye to Cyimbiri Bay Village, along the Congo-Nile trail.
Stopover for beautiful photography of Lake Kivu and scenic views along the way; visit local markets; bird watching, and interact with the coffee farmers' community. Overnight in Cyimbiri Bay.
Day 4: Rubona Fishing Village
Bike from Cyimbiri to Rubavu in Rubona Fishing village. In the morning after breakfast, you will be taken for a coffee processing tour which starts from the seed up to the Cup.
After learning and testing the coffee made by yourself, continue experiencing the best of the Congo-Nile trail along Lake Kivu while cycling. This will take you to the fishing village, interact with people, and meet the fishermen, learning a lot from Rwandan culture. Have an overnight in Rubona fishing village in Safaris Tents at Inzu Lodge.
Day 5: Lake Kivu
After breakfast, walk to the Rubona hill for photography and scenic view of Lake Kivu, both cities of Gisenyi and Goma then continue driving to Kivu beach and continue with a sightseeing tour with the Visit to people living with disability in Ubumwe community center, continue cycling to Dancing pots (Pygmy community) and in the afternoon drive to Musanze for overnight in Muhabura Hotel.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Tracking
Mountain Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park; After an early breakfast and drive to park offices by 7:00 am, we will be allocated a gorilla group, followed by a briefing by the trackers/guides. Upon sighting the gorillas, we are allowed to stay with them for a full magical hour, leaving them to enjoy their freedom. After that, we will drive back to your hotel for refreshment and lunch, and then drive to Kigali overnight.
