Day 1: Arrive Kigali – Visit Kigali – Drive to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at Kanombe Airport in Kigali, you will be welcomed by a local tour guide from Green Hills Ecotours, who will take you to a hotel for refreshments. Later, you will visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial — a moving testimony to the country’s past and its courageous recovery. In just 100 days, more than 1,000,000 people were murdered. Afterward, continue your journey to the home of the gorillas through beautiful terraced hills and spectacular scenery that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape. Overnight in Musanze.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Interacting with mountain gorillas in their natural habitat will be an exciting and unforgettable wildlife experience of your lifetime. In the afternoon, you will visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you will enjoy an interactive experience learning about Rwandan traditions, culture, songs, and dances. Overnight in Musanze.
Day 3: Visit Dian Fossey's Grave or Golden Monkeys – Transfer to Rubavu on Lake Kivu
On this day, you will either hike up to the Dian Fossey grave, where the American primatologist was laid to rest after dedicating her life to conserving endangered mountain gorillas, or go for golden monkey tracking in the forest. After the trek, transfer to Lake Kivu. Overnight in Gisenyi.
Day 4: Explore Lake Kivu – Gisenyi City Tour – Tea & Coffee Experience
Visit a fishing village, natural hot springs, and tea and coffee plantations. Relax on the shores of Lake Kivu, home to some of Africa’s finest inland beaches. Later, transfer to Kigali for your outbound flight.
