Rwanda Mountain Gorilla and Golden Monkey Tracking Tour
Rwanda is one of the few places on earth where travelers can enjoy the rare experience of tracking mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in their natural habitat. Nestled in the lush slopes of Volcanoes National Park, this adventure is often described as one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in Africa.
Mountain Gorilla Tracking
Trekking through mist-covered forests to meet a family of mountain gorillas is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Guided by expert rangers, visitors hike through bamboo forests and volcanic hills before arriving at a gorilla group. Watching these gentle giants interact, play, and feed just a few meters away creates a deep sense of connection and respect for conservation efforts. Rwanda strictly limits permits to ensure sustainable tourism, making the encounter even more special.
Golden Monkey Tracking
Often overshadowed by gorillas, the golden monkey is equally fascinating. These playful primates, with their striking golden-orange fur, are found only in the Virunga volcanic region. Tracking them offers a lighter hike compared to gorilla trekking, as they are usually spotted in the lower bamboo forests. Watching them leap through the trees in large, lively groups is a photographer’s delight.
